This is not a government office. We cannot confirm whether someone is jailed, arrange release, retrieve official records, accept tips, or alter a booking or court entry.
Website Questions
Use the site contact channel for broken links, accessibility issues, or questions about wording published on Clayton County Recent Arrests. Do not send sensitive identity documents, payment data, case evidence, or urgent safety information. Messages sent here do not reach the Sheriff, jail, court, or a records custodian.
Sheriff and Jail Records
The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office is the official route for county-jail custody questions and Sheriff-held booking records. Its administrative office is at 22680 230th Street, Saint Olaf, Iowa 52072. Public hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with county holidays closed.

For a record copy, ask for the Jail Administrator or lawful custodian of booking records. The official site publishes no separate jail records number or booking-photo request form. Confirm hours before traveling.
Emergencies and Tips
Call 911 for an emergency. The anonymous tip line is 563-245-1234, but the Sheriff states that tips are not monitored around the clock. A tip line is not a custody lookup or records-request channel.
Court and State Records
Later charges and case outcomes belong to Iowa Courts Online or the Clayton County Clerk of District Court at 111 High Street NE, Elkader, Iowa 52043. State-prison or state-supervision information belongs to the Iowa Department of Corrections. Neither source substitutes for a fresh Clayton County Jail booking record.
Other Custody Systems
IowaVINE can supply participating Iowa custody status and notifications. Federal prison questions go to the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator, while immigration detention questions go to the ICE detainee locator. A missing result in one system does not prove that no custody exists elsewhere.
Chapter 22 Requests
Iowa Code Chapter 22 permits public-record requests in person, by phone, in writing, or electronically, subject to lawful exceptions and reasonable actual costs. Identify the person and date range, name the existing record sought, ask for electronic delivery if suitable, and request a cost estimate. The Iowa Public Information Board explains the statewide process.
