Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice describes the information Clayton County Recent Arrests may receive when someone visits the site, submits a message, or uses an outside search tool. It also explains why data may be used, the types of service providers that may receive it, and the choices available to visitors. Different rules apply after a visitor follows a link to a government office or another website.

Information We Receive

Information may arrive in three ways. Search terms entered into a third-party search box are transmitted to that search provider. A visitor who contacts us supplies the message and any name, email address, or other details included with it. Web servers and service providers may also record technical data automatically, such as an IP address, device and browser type, referring page, pages viewed, and approximate visit time.

Please do not place confidential records, identity documents, financial details, or urgent law-enforcement information in a site message.

Cookies and Similar Tools

Cookies and related browser technologies may remember preferences, measure traffic, support site functions, and help deliver or evaluate advertising. Analytics and advertising providers may set their own cookies under their policies. Browser controls can block or remove cookies, although some features may then work differently.

How Data Is Used

Collected information may be used to operate and secure the site, respond to messages, diagnose faults, understand which resources are useful, prevent misuse, and improve navigation. Aggregate or de-identified measurements may be used to study general traffic patterns.

Contact details are used to address the message received. They are not a route to Clayton County government, the Sheriff’s Office, Clayton County Jail, Iowa Courts, or the Iowa Department of Corrections.

Who May Receive Data

Data may be provided to vendors that support hosting, search functions, analytics, advertising, security, or communications. Search partners receive terms submitted through their tools. Analytics and ad networks may receive technical or cookie data. Information may also be preserved or disclosed when required by a valid legal order, or when reasonably needed to protect rights, safety, or site operations.

Personal information is not sold as a stand-alone contact list. A referral relationship with a search partner may result in compensation when a visitor uses that partner’s service.

Links Beyond This Site

Links may lead to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, IowaVINE, Iowa Courts Online, the Iowa Department of Corrections, federal locators, or private services. Those destinations control their own collection and use of data. Review the privacy terms at the destination before submitting a name, identifier, payment, or message.

Security Limits

Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used to protect information in our control. No website, network, email, or storage method can promise absolute security, so transmission remains at the visitor’s risk.

Visitors Under Eighteen

This site is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly seek personal information from minors. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information should use the Contact Us page.

Your Privacy Choices

Depending on the law that applies, a visitor may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information held by this site, or object to certain processing. A request may require reasonable identity verification. Browser settings provide separate controls for cookies, while outside providers handle choices about data they hold.

Official public records are controlled by their originating agencies. Questions about a Clayton County record should be addressed to the lawful custodian under Iowa Code Chapter 22, not as a privacy request to this site.

Notice Changes

This Privacy Notice may be revised as site practices, vendors, or legal requirements change. A revised version becomes effective when posted here.
